Looking for Spring

“Is there anything hikable around here,” someone asked today.

As in, okay, Highlands is finally now closed and can we turn our attention to hiking, biking, climbing, fish and boating?
    Okay, sure.
But first, know that it is supposed to snow tonight and Thursday is going to be all of 35 degrees.
Our stubborn winter and spring remains just that.
The weekend outlook in Aspen is calling for partly sunny skies on Saturday with a high of 52. Sunday will see a slight chance of rain and a high of 54.
    Brrr.
Going to be a bit warmer in Moab with a mostly sunny Saturday and temps in the low 70s. Sunday will be warmer with highs near 80.
    That’s better.
In terms of hiking, Smuggler Mountain is said to be clear and dry and we’re hoping to do additional research on other trails.
In terms of boating, the Colorado River through Westtwater is humming at close to 14,000, Shoshone is at 3,020 and Cemetary on the Lower Fork is at 1,940.
The water is cold and running swift but today, at least, the sun is shining.
