Aspen Cycling Criterium presented by city of Aspen Parks and
Recreation Department. Event runs heats of athletes at speeds of
28 mph and higher around a 0.8-mile track with sharp curves on road
bikes starting at the Wheeler Opera House. This year we will be adding
a junior course for those athletes 18 & under. Register for one of
the 11 different categories based on your age and skill level. Cost:
$20advance registration, $30/day of registration. Pre-register till May

29th annual Roaring Fork Open Invitational golf tournament
hosted
by Roaring Fork Public Education Foundation. Golfers are invited to
enter as a foursome team, or register as a solo, duo or trio. Field is
limited. Competition also offers a hole-in-one contest with a prize car
from Glenwood Springs Ford, as well as ladies' and men's longest drive
and closest to the pin prizes. Mulligans can be purchased. Practice
begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with registration open at 11 a.m. with a 1:30
p.m. shotgun start and scramble play at Aspen Glen golf course. Cost:
$250 includes play with carts, souvenirs and dinner parties both

"Beaufort" presented by Wheeler Film Society. It is the year
2000, Israeli forces are preparing to withdraw from Lebanon after 18
years of occupation, and in the final days, a handful of Israeli
soldiers await evacuation from the southern Lebanese crusader fort
called Beaufort. Terrified young soldiers must find a way to carry out
their mission and guard the symbolic mountaintop, known in Arabic as

A support group for individuals with a body mass index of greater than 30 who
are interested in losing weight begins Monday, May 19, at 6 p.m. Group
meets at Aspen Valley Hospital every other Monday. The first meeting is
free, and a four-meeting punch card costs $50. Facilitator Lynne Dyson
has undergone gastric bypass surgery and is a graduate of the Cooper
Institute's "Weight Management Leadership" course. For more

Colorado Mountain College's Aspen campus. This class is open to ages 13

Woody Creek Clean-up
organized by Woody Creek Community Center.
Residents can pick up orange bags on the patio of the Community Center
and organize friends and neighbors to clean the roadsides on Lower
River Road, Upper River Road, Lenado Road (below Flying Dog), McLain
Flats Road and the Rio Grande Trail. Filled bags should be left on the
roadside and will be picked up by the county through May 19.
