Tator/Fossil Trot presented by Carbondale Senior Housing. One-mile or 5k run/walk to benefit CSH. All proceeds go to CSH to help build more housing for the elderly and the Carbondale soccer club. Potato Day presented by the town of Carbondale. Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Barbecue, potatoes and other activities in Sopris Park after the parade. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout Carbondale. 963-0541

Aspen Saturday Market. Market sells fresh fruit, produce, arts and crafts, includes live music and more. Saturday mornings on Hopkins Avenue in Aspen. Runs through Oct. 18.

Open House hosted by the Aspen Birth Center at Aspen Valley. The Birth Center includes an expansion that opened in May of this year, as well as a renovation of the old obstetrical unit that is now in its final stages of completion. New Belgium Hockey Mountain High presented by Aspen Recreation Department. Adult ice hockey tournament includes men’s, women’s, open, recreational, and novice divisions. Play takes place at Aspen Ice Garden and Lewis Ice Arena. Admission to watch the games is free and anyone 21 or over can purchase a wristband to enjoy beverages from our New Belgium Brewing Co.
