Tamarisk removal project organized by Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers. Volunteers will remove these non-native and invasive plants from the banks of the Colorado River on the town of Silt’s island in the Colorado River. This is the largest remaining patch between Rifle and Glenwood Springs. Volunteers should wear work clothes while the organizers will provide all tools and direction necessary. 6th annual Oktoberfest presented by the town of Carbondale. Event includes German pretzels, a bratwurst-eating contest, music, and kids activities such as rootbeer, face painting, and bounce castle. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on the Fourth Street Plaza in downtown Carbondale. 704-4114.

11th annual John Denver Week. Celebration of the life and music of John Denver. Friends and "The World Family of John Denver" host an array of events from concerts to picnics.
