It was snowy night Wednesday in the valley and Aspen Highlands picked up another six inches of snow for good measure.
So things are looking bright for the first post-season weekend slidefest at Highlands.
SkiCo has decided to run the mountain from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., instead of the more casual 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. approach they originally announced.
According to a SkiCo announcement, "the local band, Elemenopee, will perform at the Merry-Go-Round from noon to 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Elemenopee is a rock n’ roll cover band featuring Randolph Turner from Jes Grew and Aspen Highlands patroller Rob Dasaro.
"The Merry-Go-Round will have a beer garden and limited lunch menu including BBQ, chips and drinks.
"All guests are encouraged to either take the Buttermilk shuttle, the RFTA bus or skier's shuttle from Aspen. The Buttermilk shuttle operates from 8:45 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and runs every 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon and every 30 minutes mid-day.
"The Castle/Maroon Creek bus leaves Rubey Park for Highlands every 20 minutes starting at 7 a.m. The last Castle/Maroon Creek bus leaves Highlands at 11:40 p.m. on Saturday and 8:40 p.m. on Sunday. The skier’s shuttle from Rubey Park to Highlands runs every 15 minutes starting at 10 a.m. the last ride back to Aspen from Highlands is at 5:15 p.m."
