OBITUARY — Marcia Mary Lane

Marcia Mary Lane passed away at her home in Leadville. She was 60 years old.

Lane was born in Oakland, Calif., on June 14, 1947. Her parents were the late Robert W. & Billie (Woods) Alameida. Marcia grew up in California where she became a dental hygienist and assistant. She continued to work in the dentistry profession in the San Francisco Bay area until she moved to Colorado.

Marcia then went to work in the city offices of Aspen where she met and married Paul Derek Lane on Oct. 26, 1985. Derek, as he was known, and Marcia moved to Leadville in 1995, where Marcia worked in the cafeterias at Colorado Mountain College and at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Leadville.

Marcia’s family remembers her love of sunshine and the beach, and how she especially enjoyed the holidays. Marcia was also a great cat lover.

Mrs. Lane is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Derek Lane, who died in 2004; and one step-brother, Jimmy Moyle. She is survived by her half sisters, Michelle Alameida and Leslie Trout; step-sister, Patricia Leighton; step-mother, June Alameida; and father-in-law, Glen Lane; as well as her cousins, Valerie Montgomery, Rita Lee Tompkins and Gayle Cass.

According to her wishes, Marcia was cremated. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Derek in the Masonic Cemetery in Leadville at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
