Editor:
What a fantastic time we had at the 2008 LUNAFEST Carbondale short-film fest this year on March 15 at the Thunder River Theatre. We were able to raise over $8,000, with 85 percent going to the Advocate Safehouse Project and 15 percent going to the Breast Cancer Fund.
This was the first year of the LUNAFEST in our valley and it was well attended and the feedback we received from the people attending it was tremendous. We plan to bring it back to the valley next year.
It takes a community to produce an entertainment-filled event, and we certainly had a fabulous amount of support. First of all, we would like to thank the LUNAFEST Committee who made this possible: Kristina Bingaman, Amanda Brooke, Andrea Dill, Lis Ensminger, Charlie Horn, Nova Loverro-Sprick, and Carol McCurry.
Additionally, we could not have held the LUNAFEST without our generous sponsors: Alpine Bank, Stroller Strides, Glenwood Springs Post Independent, Thunder River Theatre, Delish-Delosh Catering, Aspen Audio Visual, Roaring Fork Liquors, LUNA Bars, Bethel Party Rentals, Carbondale Green Team, and Floral Boutique.
Special thanks to the silent auction donors: Wewer Keohane, Mary Noone, Laura V — The Silver Bead, Laurren Whistler, Diane Kenney, Annette Roberts-Gray, Jennifer Johnson, Karen Miller, Kathy Honea, Eilleen Waski, Stroller Strides, Accelerate, Inc., Amy Dixon, Marilyn Summers Cool, Susan Reed, Carbondale Recreation Center, Carol Rothrock, Molly McDonald Photography, River Valley Ranch, The Kitchen Fine Catering, La Maison, Home Show, Artist Collective, Lauren Spence Jewelry, Sheri Gaynor/Feisty Females, B Barnett, Marjorie Comer (CMT), K.C. Lockrem, and Jo Bershenyi.
Many thanks to the people who attended LUNAFEST this year. Please spread the word about this wonderful and enlightening short-film fest. We hope to see you next year at the movies.
