Cutting taxes increases revenues

Editor:

I agree with Andrew Davis (his article on reducing taxes) that government spending must also be reduced. However, if McCain is elected president and reduces taxes, history has shown that such a move actually increases tax revenue dollars. Even President Kennedy had that figured out in the early 1960s.

Conversely, increasing taxes historically has resulted in lower tax revenue. I know this sounds illogical, but when you lower taxes people stop playing tax deduction games and just pay the lower taxes. Now if we can lower taxes and also lower government spending, we will have a huge boost to the dollar and a huge decline in the national debt.

Looks like John McCain is onto something (lower taxes). Now if he can just figure out how to decrease spending in a Congress and Senate controlled by the Democrats.

Ah, there’s the rub.
