Face time: Our weekly profile of a local business community member

Jennifer Slaughter
Principal, Different: PR & marketing

Family: My fiancé, Derek Skalko, is here in Aspen along with
a wonderful “family” of friends; my sister and parents are back home in
Minneapolis, Minn.

Hometown/Childhood: New Hope, Minn.

Hobbies: Community theater, hiking, dancing and speaking German!

Role Models: My biggest role model is my mother.
She blazed her own trail at a time when not a lot of women did. I
admire her for her work ethic and for her devotion to her family.

Motto: “Do or do not, there is no try.”

First Job: Retail sales associate at Carson Pirie Scott department store.
Career Highlight: Meeting and interviewing Harrison Ford at the 2006 Aspen Filmfest.

Biggest Challenge in Your Line of Business: Relationships:
both developing and nurturing the relationships I have with my clients,
with members of the media and with key business partners. Without good
relationships, my line of work would be tough, indeed!
