Toni’s being unfair

Editor:

Toni Kronberg (letters to the editor, May 13) is being unfair to the Aspen Music Festival and School in her call to have them house more of their students as part of the redevelopment of their Castle Creek campus.

She also is being unfair in chastising the county commissioners for not insisting on more student housing. She is right, in that the city provided land for the Marolt and Burlingame housing projects, but they were both built with Music Festival money and they are both large projects that house many students in the summer and seasonal employees during the winter.

The impact on the affordable housing inventory of the campus redevelopment is minimal. There will be no additional students.

Toni may think they’re not doing enough, but they’ve done more than anybody outside of government agencies to address the affordable housing shortfall.
