Glenwood Springs will host the national team trials for next year’s kayaking world championship.

The U.S. Kayak Freestyle Association has not set a date, but the competition must be held sometime before May 1, 2009.

In the past, the group has often headed north to Canada’s Ottawa River for the team trials.

Brian Wright, co-owner of Glenwood Canyon Kayak, said the exposure will help Glenwood Springs become known nationally as a paddle town.
