The Solaris building, a 70,000-square foot project now under
construction in Vail, will be home to a "cinebistro," its developers
say. The high-class movie theater will have a complete menu with haute
cuisine, cocktail tables and wine lists, paired with leather-backed
chairs and valet parking, the Vail Daily reported. The building is set
to be completed in 2010, and is slated to also house an ice-skating
rink and 10-lane bowling alley.

TELLURIDE: NEWSPAPER SELLS TO BOULDER MAN

The Telluride Daily Planet was recently purchased by a Boulder man who
owns a weekly in Tuscon, Ariz., the newspaper reported. The purchaser,
Randy Miller, has wanted to buy the newspaper since he first visited
the town three decades ago, he told reporters. He also bought the
Planet's sister papers, the Silverton Standard & Miner and the
Norwood Post. The Daily Planet was formerly owned by Gatehouse Media, a
New York City-based conglomerate that publishes more than 300 papers
nationwide. Miller was the former owner of the Colorado Daily, a free
newspaper published five days a week in Boulder. He announced that the
Daily's current director of advertising would become the Daily Planet's
new publisher.

JACKSON HOLE: DRILLING HURTS WILDLIFE

Wildlife populations will suffer if an additional 3,700 wells 100 miles
south of Jackson are drilled, officials say. The recent release of a
plan that increases drilling from 700 to 4,399 wells would allow for
increased development and habitat destruction on the Pinedale Mesa, the
Jackson Hole News & Guide reported. The Bureau of Land Management
says the plan should go into effect by late July. Critics of the
updated drilling plans say it allows industry to get out of commitments
designed to help protect the environment. The mesa is important winter
wildlife habitat for deer, and it has been closed to humans, but not
industry, in the winter.
