Shae Singer
Partner in Aspen Electric Cars
Family: I have an amazing brother who has an auto restoration business outside of Dallas where he lives with his wife and three kids. My mother moved from Aspen to Oregon to follow her bliss, and I still have aunts and uncles and cousins who live here.
Hometown/Childhood: I grew up in a small town on the east coast of Florida. My father was in the Air Force/space industry and my mother was a school teacher. I had a great childhood living on the beach; I would get notes to miss school if the surf was good, and school was closed if a rocket was set to launch so we could go stand on the beach and watch it take off.
Hobbies: Anything to do with water (yes, snow counts as water) and hiking with my two wonderful golden retrievers Daisy and Lily.
Role Models: My parents because they instilled the entreprenurial gene in me at birth and encouraged me to always follow my dreams. They always pushed me to find a way to accomplish my goals instead of seeing the negative and quitting.
Motto: The phrase "I am trying" is a cop out! So my motto would be never, ever try — just do it! And do the very best you can.
First Job: A health food smoothie bar in the original Catri surf shop in Indiatlantic, Fla. I am still a health-food junkie.
Career Highlight: Actually It might not have come yet. If a "highlight"is the best there is why would we keep going? I believe we must always be striving for the highlight, to make a difference in our own lives and in our community as well as the world. If you keep on increasing your expectations your results will be better and better and your "highlight" will be the next thing you do best.
Biggest Challenge in Your Line of Business: Educating people that electric cars are good for the environment because they have zero emissions, no noise and besides that they are safe and fun to drive, and you never have to put gas in them. Who would think something like that could be so hard?
