Frommer promises payment to stiffed babysitter (again)

Alleged scam artist Peter Frommer agreed in small claims court Wednesday to pay his complete outstanding debt to a former babysitter by the end of this month.

Babysitter Patricia Smyth, formerly of Boulder, sat for Frommer’s four children and was promised more than $7,000 shortly before he was arrested in early 2007 on various fraud charges. He is now facing more than 30 felony charges and set to stand trial in December.

Frommer said yesterday he will pay Smyth the remaining $5,000 he owes her by July 31.

The proposed final settlement comes almost a year from the time Smyth first took Frommer to court — and after a number of other promised payment plans have not been executed.  Smyth was cautiously hopeful.

“I’m going to keep my fingers crossed,” she said, “because, as delightful as this is, it’s getting old.”
