Presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain will meet with
the Dalai Lama at a private Aspen home tomorrow afternoon.
News of the meeting first surfaced in Internet reports this morning and have since been confirmed by the McCain campaign.
Sen. McCain had been scheduled to visit the Gulf Coast on Friday, but postponed the trip due to Hurricane Dolly.
The Dalai Lama will be speaking at the Aspen Institute on Friday and
Saturday, during a three-day conference on Tibet. His meeting with
McCain is not part of the Institute program.
The impromptu meeting comes at the end of a week where McCain’s
presumptive opponent in the November presidential race, Sen. Barack
Obama, has dominated media coverage while meeting overseas with foreign
dignitaries.
