MACK — Two people are feared dead in a plane crash near Baxter Pass that was discovered by a motorist traveling along the Colorado-Utah border.

Garfield County sheriff’s spokeswoman Tanny McGinnis said crews were heading to the site after receiving a motorist’s report Sunday afternoon.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor described the plane as a single-engine, four-seat Grumman Cheetah. Gregor said a motorist noticed the wreckage from a nearby road approximately 20 miles northwest of Mack, checked on it and saw two bodies.

The plane was en route to Dove Creek in southwestern Colorado.

Additional information was not available as of press time.
