Buttermilk mountain manager Hans Hohl resigned his post Tuesday, according to Aspen Skiing Co. officials.
Spokesman Jeff Hanle would not divulge any details of Hohl’s resignation, only to say he resigned for personal reasons.
“Whatever else you might say would be speculation,” Hanle said.
Hohl was suspended without pay from February until April last winter for what multiple sources said was a relationship with a female subordinate that the company deemed inappropriate. He returned to his mountain manager position in the spring.
Hanle said he did not know if Hohl’s resignation was in any way related to incidents last winter.
Hohl rose up SkiCo ranks after joining the company as a ski instructor in 1990. He became Buttermilk mountain manager in 2001. In that position, Hohl “nurtured the X Games since they have been hosted in Aspen, installed the West Buttermilk Chair, built three progressively bigger pipes and (has) run a terrific mountain,” SkiCo Vice President for Mountain Operations Rich Burkley said in a press release. “We wish Hans the best in his future endeavors.”
Burkley will assume the day-to-day operations at Buttermilk while SkiCo conducts an internal search to replace Hohl, said Hanle, who noted that he enjoyed working with the departing mountain manager.
“(Hohl) built a strong team,” Hanle said. “I have confidence everything will move along smoothly.”
