Obituary: Stefan Friedrich Zedlacher 1985 — 2012

Stefan Friedrich Zedlacher, loving husband, son and brother, died in Richmond, Va. on Easter Sunday, after a long and exceptionally courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Aspen, Stefan exemplified carpe diem.

He loved his life of adventure in the mountains, whether it was skiing, hiking, golf, or fishing. But most of all, Stefan loved his family and friends. His goal was always to put everyone else’s happiness first, which he often did through his gift of humor.

Stefan graduated summa cum laude from Lynchburg College, where he met his true love, his wife Cassie. Stefan is survived by Cassie Virginia Zedlacher of Richmond, Va.; his parents, Franz and Susan Zedlacher of Snowmass Village; his brother, Franz Peter Zedlacher of Snowmass Village; his grandfather, Dr. David Stephenson of Denver; loving aunts, uncles and cousins, from Colorado, Canada and Europe, as well as countless friends. His grandmother, Barbara Louise Stephenson of Denver, preceded Stefan in death.

Memorial services and a celebration of a life well lived will be held at The Aspen Chapel, Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Stefan Zedlacher Memorial Fund through The Aspen Chapel.
