As we have done for the past 20-plus years, Project Graduation was held at The Aspen Club last week. Volunteer parents put together an amazing event and set up tons of activities throughout the club so that the kids had a safe and fun place to celebrate their graduation from Aspen High School.
This year was a bit different in that, as most of you know, one of the students suffered a seizure on the pool deck, was resuscitated by an AED and immediately taken to the hospital. He was later airlifted to Grand Junction where he continued his rehabilitation, which has gone well thus far.
I am so proud of our volunteers, the Aspen High School parents and the Aspen paramedics and police who reacted quickly and efficiently to the situation. After haven spoken with a lot of the first responders, I now believe that if it hadn’t been for Project Graduation, and all the experts who surrounded Hayden that night for the event, we would have lost a fine young man last Saturday, which would have been unbelievably tragic.
We are so blessed to be able to donate the Club every year to such a great event. I look forward to many more years of Project Graduation at The Aspen Club, albeit with a little less excitement than this year.
