Polo returns again to the Sopris Mountain Ranch in Emma with three teams playing a round robin for a chance to win the Sopris Mountain Cup. Play will begin on
Saturday, June 30 at 3 p.m. and on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The final round play for the championship will take place the following weekend, July 7 at 3 p.m. and July 8 at 11 p.m.
“It’s great to see polo competition growing here in the Roaring Fork Valley with Colorado players as well as out-of-state players participating. Polo is a long-time tradition in this area and the setting at the Sopris Mountain Ranch is fabulous,” said Geneve Kashnig, organizer of the event.
The public is invited. There is no admission. Food and beverage will be available from the Lucky Dog Gourmet Wagon on the grounds. Bring your own cooler, lawn chairs, a good sun hat and enjoy polo here in the valley. The ranch is located 4.5 miles up West Sopris Creek Road. Follow the signs from the Highway 82 exit at Emma and Sopris Creek Road turn off.
Proceeds from the tournament will go the Perfect Unions Animal Rescue & C.A.R.E. The event is made possible by sponsors and donations from Ajax Mechanical, Bighorn Toyota, Caldera Construction, Mayo Aviation, Silverpeak Apothecary and Kracl Automotive.
