A man who drowned Wednesday in the Colorado River while paddle-boarding was identified Thursday as Scott Young, 52, of Eagle.
Authorities at 3:22 p.m. were alerted that Young had gone into the river between Grizzly Creek and No Name in Glenwood Canyon and had not resurfaced.
The Glenwood Springs Fire Protection District responded and transported the victim to Valley View Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead, according to a Garfield County Sheriff’s Office press release.
Kristin Clifford, deputy coroner with the county, said authorities aren’t sure how he fell in. Results of an autopsy are expected today, she said.
Young was wearing a helmet but not a life jacket, Clifford said. She did not have any information about Young’s level of experience in the sport.
