Smuggler work to create travel impacts

Forestry work along Smuggler Mountain Road and trails will affect travel in the area beginning Oct. 4.

Tree cuts in select sections of the Smuggler Mountain Open Space will cause delays along the road and trail when equipment is operating or in transit. This forestry work is being done in accordance with the Smuggler Mountain Forest Management Plan and is designed to promote forest health, improve wildlife habitat and reduce wildfire fuel loading.

National columnist to appear in C’dale

KDNK and the Aspen Daily News present an afternoon with Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now! Goodman is on the road for a 100-city “Silenced Majority Tour.” The tour stops at Carbondale town hall Saturday, Oct. 6 from 1-2:30 p.m. She will engage in a conversation that goes beyond the mainstream media’s focus on the latest poll numbers and candidate gaffes, to examine how people are organizing; the impacts of restrictive voter ID laws that are making it harder to vote, and how the massive influx of campaign cash following the Citizens United decision is changing how democracy works.

Tickets for this KDNK benefit are $50, or $30 for KDNK members with your community card. Contact KDNK at 963-0139 for tickets and information.
