An expensive, narrow gravel spot to sleep thanks to SkiCo

Editor:

Having recently moved back to the Roaring Fork Valley, I thought I’d save some money and stay in my camper. Since I wasn’t employed, I figured that I’d stay at the centrally located Aspen/Basalt Campground. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that it’s owned by the Aspen Skiing Co. Now picture my complete shock when I found out that a semi-permanent, narrow gravel spot costs $750 a month (utilities included).  That’s comparable to the price of a one-bedroom apartment in Glenwood. I have a small truck camper, not a huge luxury bus with all the bells and whistles. Really, SkiCo? That’s how you treat hard-working locals, by sucking as much money as you can out of them?  Shame on you and your greed.
