“McLean” Flats was named after one of the earliest homesteaders in the 1890s, not after Doug McLain’s dad, as stated in the Aug. 19 edition of this paper. As with other Aspen streets, the spelling was later changed.

The Snowmass Rodeo was started by Doug McLain. His then wife Arlyce and their three children — Pam, Tracy and Julie — worked tirelessly to make the rodeo a success.
