Library can use its own $5 million

Editor:

We hope voters will vote “no” on 5A and 5B, and save our library and civic plaza. We already have the largest library per capita in Colorado, at 32,000 square feet. It is already a “star library,” and ranked in the top 3.5 percent of the state.

The library already has $5 million of its own money to do an interior reconfiguration, without going to the taxpayers for another $10.2 million. They can have their secure children’s room, sound-proof teen room, flexible meeting rooms, Wi-Fi and computer upgrades, all without going to the taxpayers for $141,000 annually, increasing over 30 years to $5 million (ballot issue 5A), or without asking for another $5.4 million, up to $10.2 million (ballot issue 5B).

We already have a spacious, lovely plaza. The public should not have to foot the bill at $10.2 million to fund a highly unpopular, inappropriate large cement canopy, which will take up one third of our plaza and serve no purpose.

Please study your facts and vote “no” on ballot issue 5A and 5B.
