New Exhibits at Aspen Art Museum
For insight on what some of the best Colorado-based artists are working on these days, check out the new Aspen Art Museum exhibition, “Continental Drift,” when if opens this week.
A collaboration between the local museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, it showcases seven artists exploring the idea of place. The work includes film, sculpture, painting, and installations that reflect on Colorado through specific historical sites along with conceptual examinations of space and the places we inhabit. Artists include Christina Battle, Scott Johnson, Jeanne Liotta, Sarah McKenzie, Adam Milner, Yumi Roth, and Edie Winograde.
There’s an opening reception at the museum on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. Learn more at www.aspenartmuseum.org [1]
Rally for the Valley
Te conventional medicine used to battle cancer is always improving, but if you’ve known anyone in radiation or chemotherapy (and who hasn’t?) you know the treatment itself does a number on people. That’s where Rally for the Valley comes in, raising funds for programs that ease the side effects of cancer treatment with massage, acupuncture, counseling and support groups.
With proceeds going to the Young Cancer Center at Valley View Hospital, the Rally features a 24.5 mile bike ride, a kids parade, and a four-mile walk through Glenwood Springs, culminating with a party in Sayre Park.
You can walk or ride with a $20 donation. Festivities kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. Learn more at www.ralleyforthevalley.org [2]
