Ski season is here, whether you’re ready or not.

If you skimped on your ski conditioning and haven’t gotten your legs in shape for a winter on the slopes, there’s still some hope for you to get your act together with the Aspen Skiing Co.’s free mountaintop yoga classes.

Dubbed “Yoga for Skiers,” the classes run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Sundeck, on top of Aspen Mountain, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. They kick off on Nov. 23.

The class’s postures are focused on getting your hips and legs loose and warm for a day on the slopes. But, as anybody who has done one of these classes can tell you, they are an experience unto themselves. They offer one of the most resplendent mornings you can have in Aspen. Moving through a yoga flow beside a panoramic view of the Elk Mountains, in all their winter glory, is a feast for the senses.

For now, yogis will have to download on the gondola. But once we get some more snow, and top-to-bottom skiing opens on Ajax, there’s nothing better than finishing a good class and skiing down to Bonnie’s for a pancake. Until then, head up and enjoy some yoga at 11,212 feet.

Mats will be provided. Guests must have a valid lift ticket to participate.
