I am writing on behalf of Roderick O’Connor, a friend and previous manager of mine. We worked together in the ’90s at a property management company. Back then he was a really calm, honest and fair person to work for. When I heard that he’d been made chief of police in Basalt I thought what a win-win situation. I have remained friends with Roderick throughout the years.
I just can’t believe or understand what’s happened. It’s almost like you all want him to disappear with no questions asked or public explanation given as to why he has been suspended. It’s really quite “big brother” like or something that would happen back in the Wild West days — string him up and hang him without a trial. Is it fair to ask what has he done and what is the proof of his guilt?
I think that chief O’Connor is exactly the kind of “peace” officer that Basalt needs. He’s a very caring man and you as a community are lucky to have him.
