City Council recently shared a simply pathetic list of its accomplishments for 2012. Imagine leading an entity that takes in three-quarters of a million dollars more than it spends every month and your greatest achievements for the year are banning plastic grocery bags and sorting out issues with the county related to subsidized housing.

Better use of space would have listed the community’s accomplishments in spite of this merry band of thieves, including the defeat of the completion of the Castle Creek hydro plant at the polls, reconsideration of the hastily decided 28-foot building height limit, and an environment that finds City Manager Steve Barwick seeking employment elsewhere.

We have a municipal election in May and everyone on council wants to be mayor. The election is sure to be a referendum on the pathetic status quo versus change for the better.
