Immediate response to hit and run

Editor:

I would like thank our public servants.

After investigating a loud bang and the sound of a small car zooming away, I discovered a utility pole hanging precariously over the front of my car. I called 911 and in less than 10 minutes an Eagle County sheriff was on the scene, followed in rapid succession by Basalt police, Basalt fire and rescue, then various other officials.

Luckily there were no injuries or damage to property. But had there been, it’s nice to know our public agencies are there. Staffed, ready, willing and able to be of assistance. Kudos.

I hope the operator of the vehicle that caused the damage was apprehend before creating anymore carnage, as the individual’s driving skills leave much to be desired.

Coincidentally, a car split a different utility pole across the street two years ago. Strange indeed.
