A man collapsed on Aspen Mountain on Monday afternoon and was pronounced dead at Aspen Valley Hospital.
A Pitkin County Sheriff’s deputy and Aspen Ambulance responded at 2:52 p.m. to a report of ski patrollers performing CPR on the man, said deputy Alex Burchetta.
Deputy coroner Eric Hansen said the man was 58 and was from out of town.
His name was not released as officials were notifying relatives, he said. The cause of death will likely not be released until today.
Hansen said the man collapsed and that his death was not related to on-mountain trauma.
