Aspen Sister Cites is hosting two exchange ski patrol members in Aspen for this ski season. Cedric Gex is the son of one of our original ski patrol exchange participants from Chamonix, France and Mauro Urra is our first exchange patroller from Bariloche, Argentina. The ski patrol exchange program has been in existence for 18 years. We wish to acknowledge and thank the Aspen Skiing Co., especially Rich Burkley, Bud Norris, Craig Chalmers, Bill Tarrallo, Peter King, Steve Sewell, Mac Smith and Kevin Haggerty, all the company’s ski patrol members, Colorado Mountain College and the entire Aspen community for helping to make this exchange possible and for insuring its success. You all have shown the great sense of community that makes Aspen such a unique place to live and work. You have made a tremendous contribution to the mission of the sister cities movement which is, “promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation — one individual, one community at a time.”
Carson Spung from the Snowmass Ski Patrol is currently working in Chamonix for the season and we hope to send a patrol member from Aspen to Bariloche for the austral winter of 2013. These experiences help to reinforce the sisterhood between our communities and make our collective skier safety services more professional and well rounded.
