One of Crown Mountain Park’s baseball infields was in need of rebuilding and with a generous grant from Mid Valley Metro District, this became a reality. After several days of excavation, a work day was held that involved both fields and an impressive army of Little Leaguers. Over 50 kids and parents showed up (just as the Easter Bunny had finished egg-hunt deliveries) and were put to work with shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows. With new infield dirt, fences repaired, bases anchored firmly, and an outfield fence installed, the baseball season is now newly underway. Thank you to all who were involved to help make this a great community event, we look forward to this becoming an annual get together.
Thank you to the following people, without your donations, sponsorships and hard work, this could not have happened. Thank you Bill Reynolds and Mid Valley Metro District for the generous grant for this project. Thank you Travis Stewart and Western Slope Materials for deliveries of sponsored infield mix. A huge thank you goes to Noel and John Crawford from Crawford Properties for lending your knowledgeable advice and hardworking attitudes to the project. Thank you to staff Mark Hinchcliffe and Josh Wolfe for your tireless efforts. Thank you to the staff at Wagner Rents for your equipment for the week, it was a pleasure working with you.
These fields will be buzzing with a variety of baseball and softball games from spring through fall, for Little League, to recreational kids softball and baseball leagues, to adult softball and kickball leagues. We look forward to seeing you out on the diamond.
