Providing supervisors of Spanish-speaking employees with better communication and team-building strategies will be the focus of a Tuesday event hosted by the Aspen Chamber Resort Association and the Aspen Lodging Association.
At the Sky Hotel at 709 E. Durant Ave., the Spanish Language Supervisor and Customer Service Training will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in Spanish and from 1-3:30 p.m. in English. The cost is $20 for ACRA members and $35 for non-members.
Futuro Solido President Melissa Burkhart will lead the training. Burkhart will provide proven, effective tools and strategies to encourage Spanish speakers to make the right decisions in their interactions with guests and create the environment mangers strive for. The English afternoon session will include best management practices in this country and how they differ from typical Latin American expectations. To RSVP, call ACRA at 925-1940.
The Little Nell is sharing the secrets for warm hospitality and delicious food with Aspen’s next generation by partnering with chef/cookbook author Helen DeFrance to teach kids basic cooking skills.
Comfy in the Kitchen will be a series of four cooking classes this summer for children age 4 and up.
Each class will feature lessons on how to create both savory and sweet items. Kids will also be guided on the importance of a balanced meal and how to properly use cooking tools. The classes will emphasize being comfortable in the kitchen, following recipes, measuring, mixing and chopping. Mom and dad might like some of the recipes the kids bring home as well.
DeFrance will be joined by special guests from The Little Nell kitchen, including pastry chef Danielle Riesz and executive chef Robert McCormick.
Classes will be held at The Little Nell from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 24, June 19, July 11 and August 21. Each class will feature a different theme.
Cost is $30 per class, or the entire series can be purchased in advance for $100. Space is limited and is open to all. Two spots per class will be donated to participants of The Buddy Program.
