On behalf of the Aspen Community School and Compass, I want to say thank you to our valley community. For the last eight months we have been in a whirlwind of fundraising activities in our race to raise $4.9 million. It’s been like Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride — on the autobahn.
Never before have we faced such a daunting task. Never before have the stakes have been so high, with the future of our school and a $4.2 million state BEST grant hanging in the balance.
The pressure has been intense but the process has been nothing short of magical. I have been surrounded by passionate parent volunteers and staff who have thrown themselves headlong into this since day one and have never faltered. Together we have been reaching out far and wide, shouting from the mountain tops, bending every ear that will listen.
As a result, we have been overwhelmed by the flood of support from this community. Of nearly 600 donors to our small school, 60 percent are supporting us for the first time — spurred to action by our compelling challenge and, I believe, the recognition that ACS contributes to local education and quality of life in a meaningful way.
Thank you to everyone who has participated in this heartwarming journey, and for those of you who want to join us as we rush toward the finish line in two days — there is still time. Tax-deductible donations may be made online at www.iBelieveACS.org .
