The Aspen Chapel is hosting a retreat beginning today that will help guide participants in creating their own spiritual path.
The course will be taught by Dr. Ed Bastian, the founder and president of the Spiritual Paths Foundation.
The retreat’s goal is to develop an inner foundation of equanimity, wisdom and compassion to support people’s active engagement in the world by using the Spiritual Paths Mandala.
The program will be held Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, as well as Thursday and Friday, if participants want a five-day option.
The goals of the program include exploring answers to individuals’ spiritual questions and integrating insights learned into daily life. Sessions include teachings, discussions, journaling and meditation.
Bastian, a former Aspen resident, has worked closely with more than 50 Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Taoist and Native American contemplative teachers, and has been a longtime participant in Fr. Thomas Keating’s Snowmass gatherings of contemplative leaders of many faiths. A former program director and teacher of Buddhism and world religions for the Smithsonian Institution, Fulbright Fellow, Internet entrepreneur and environmentalist, Bastian has taught throughout the United States and Canada.
The course fee for three days is $100 and will include the classes, workbook and book of readings.
