Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin said he doesn’t expect the departure of Aspen police officer Valerie McFarlane to jeopardize the domestic violence case against actor Charlie Sheen.

Carbondale man gets 42 years for stabbing

A Carbondale man has been sentenced to 42 years in state prison for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Ian Michael Ranney, 26, was convicted at a jury trial on Jan. 28, 2010 on four charges: attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, felony menacing and felony stalking. Eagle County District Court Judge Frederick Gannett handed down the sentence on Thursday.

Free Snowmass-Aspen bus extended for three years

The developers of the Lodge at Aspen Mountain and the Aspen Skiing Co. have formally severed their agreement that would have seen the lodge developers fund a new Lift 1A chairlift if the project is approved.

House education committee passes CMC baccalaureate bill

The education committee of the state House of Representatives voted Thursday to support SB 101, which would allow Colorado Mountain College to offer up to five bachelor’s degrees, according to a CMC press release. The vote was unanimous.
