The board of directors for Susan G. Komen’s Aspen affiliate voted unanimously Thursday to defy a new rule from the national cancer-fighting nonprofit’s leadership that would stop funding Planned Parenthood.

Aspen’s economy has strengthened significantly, based on the city’s monthly report for consumption-based tax collections released Thursday.

December was a “very strong” month — 13 percent up over the same period in 2010, according to city finance director Don Taylor.

The following is activity was recorded with the Aspen Police Department between Jan. 19-Feb. 2. All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty.

• Jan. 20 — At 6:17 p.m., Aspen police officers contacted Connor Marx, 20, of Aspen, after witnessing suspicious behavior. Marx was issued a municipal court summons for littering.
