Aspen’s economy has strengthened significantly, based on the city’s monthly report for consumption-based tax collections released Thursday.

December was a “very strong” month — 13 percent up over the same period in 2010, according to city finance director Don Taylor.

Two Carbondale residents arrested for felony forgery

Two Carbondale men are charged with felony forgery after they were arrested this week for allegedly selling fraudulent employment documents.

Sergio Edwin Garcia Carranza, 41, and Victor Daniel Vazquez Cortes, 30, also face a charge of possession of forged instruments and are jailed under immigration holds, according to a Eagle County Sheriff’s Office press release.
