Is the valley’s newest  bike trail for the birds?

Construction of the 5.25-mile Crystal River bike trail is nearing completion after years in the making. But a Redstone-based ecologist is now raising concern that trees slated for removal on the last stretch of the trail could hold nests for a native woodpecker with a declining population.

John Joseph Kelley, of Aspen, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, in an avalanche that occurred near the Copper Creek Drainage, 16 miles from Aspen.
