W. Jason Martin, M.D.
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Family:
My wife Barbara and children Avery, 3, and Jacob, 1.
Hometown:
Born and raised in Louisville, Ky.
Hobbies:
Architecture and furniture design.
Role models:
My father, John Polley, M.D., the chairman of plastic surgery at Rush University in Chicago, Ill.
Motto:
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
First job:
Began in construction as a laborer for my father at the tender age of 13 during summer break.
Career highlights:
A medical mission in 2006 to Guatemala primarily focused on cleft lip
and palate repair for the local children. Practicing at Manhattan Eye,
Ears and Throat Hospital in New York City, a world renowned hospital
for aesthetic surgery.
Biggest challenge in my business:
Every plastic surgery patient wants to look baby-faced, but they don’t
usually look for it in their surgeon. Because I’m young (and look
younger) and spend so much of my day in patient care, I have to force
myself to take time to attend to my growing practice.
