TELLURIDE: VALLEY FLOOR DEED,  FINALLY

After years of battle in the Colorado Supreme Court, the town of Telluride finally holds the deed to its prized Valley Floor, a 3-mile stretch of land along the San Miguel River just outside of town. The town raised $50 million to condemn the property, which was owned by developer Neal Blue of San Miguel Valley Corp., the Rocky Mountain News reported. After the Supreme Court’s June 2 decision, the town had to wait 14 or 15 days for a rehearing request, which didn’t happen. Currently, the land is open for public use. The town’s first step is to preserve the land from future development through an easement.

VAIL: MAY INCREASE PARKING SPACES

Because of Vail Resorts’ new Epic Pass — a severely discounted unlimited ski pass — officials are expecting increased traffic to their parking garages, which already continuously fill up during the winter. To combat this, they’re looking at plans to add 500 spaces in a variety of places around town, the Vail Daily News reported. The town’s 2,815 public parking places filled up 48 times during the 2007-08 season.
