ELWOOD NAMED ASSOCIATION CHAIR
Aspen/Pitkin County Airport Director Jim Elwood was named chair of the American Association of Airport Executives during its 80th annual conference in June. The AAAE is a professional organization that represents more than 2,500 airport management personnel at public airports from around the nation. Working with federal agencies and Congress in Washington, D.C., Elwood will represent airport executives to facilitate change so they can perform their duties at individual airports. One of Elwood's primary initiatives in his new position will be to address how airports can deal with increasing energy costs, and the possible impacts it will have on the industry.
NEW PHYSICAL THERAPIST AT LEVY
Aspen-based Levy Physical Therapy recently hired Chris Barbour to join its practice. Barbour most recently traveled with Riverdance as their medical officer and physical therapist during the North American tour, and prior to that he worked at Aspen Valley Hospital for eight years. He earned his physical therapy degree in Amsterdam in 1998, and specializes in orthopedic and sports therapy. Levy Physical Therapy will extend its hours with the addition of an employee.
PROMOTIONS AT U.S. BANK
Lex Tarumianz and Adam Nelson have been promoted to assistant vice presidents of the commercial banking team at U.S. Bank in Aspen. In their new position, they will develop commercial loans, banking products and continuing to manage existing clients.
This is Nelson's sixth year in finance, and he has been with U.S. Bank since 2004. He was most recently a commercial banking manager, and spent two years on the retail side of banking. Nelson is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
Tarumianz joined U.S. Bank in 2007 as a commercial banking manager. He has also served as a member on the city of Aspen's budget task force. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
