AVSC HIRES NEW COACH
Romina "Romi" Harding has been hired as the new devo snowboard coach by Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, where she will pass on her skills to a group of 9- to 14-year-old riders. The Argentinian native moved to Aspen in 2000, and quickly learned to snowboard while working as a lift operator at Buttermilk Mountain.
In March, she took first place in both the halfpipe and slopestyle competitions at the USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain. Harding also works as a personal trainer at Jean Roberts Gym and taught snowboarding in Lake Tahoe, Calif.
ENGLER FIRST ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Following through with an artist-in-residence program established in memory of the late Dottie Fox, who co-founded Wilderness Workshop, Joan Engler has been named the first artist in Wilderness. The one- or two-week residency allows artists to create in the wilderness, inspired by the lands proposed for protection in the Hidden Gems Wilderness Campaign.
Engler was a student of Fox's, who was an accomplished watercolorist and instructor at Colorado Mountain College.
HOT SPRINGS MAKES NEW HIRES
Glenwood Hot Springs has a few new faces on its grounds: Barbara Clarke is the new director of sales and marketing, Laura Ensey is the manager of the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge, Avalon Lionheart is spa director for Spa of the Rockies and Mark Volf is the new athletic director.
