RELATED WESTPAC EXPANDS ASPEN/SNOWMASS HOSPITALITY
Property management and operations at Snowmass Base Village has shifted hands from Aspen Skiing Co. to Aspen/Snowmass Hospitality, an expansion of Related WestPac. Because Related WestPac is behind the redevelopment, the company says its local knowledge and management experience in the area will be able to better assist visitors.
In Base Village, SkiCo will manage The Little Nell Residences Snowmass, opening in spring 2010, Sneaky's Tavern in Capitol Peak Lodge, opening at Thanksgiving, and the Treehouse Kids' Adventure Center.
Jud Hawk has been named the general manager of Aspen/Snowmass Hospitality. Hawk has previously worked with the Ritz Carlton and Hotel Jerome.

RIO GRANDE TRAIL IS AWARD-WORTHY
The 44-mile trail that takes cyclists, runners and bladers from Aspen to Glenwood Springs was recently honored with the Colorado Tourism Initiative Award during the Colorado Tourism Conference. The Rio Grande Trail, a rail-to-trails type project, is built on the Rio Grande Western Railroad Corridor, which stopped any sort of operation in the mid-1990s. Dorothea Farris, a Roaring Fork Transportation Authority board chair, accepted the award for the valley.
