JACKSON HOLE: FEWER SALES, HIGHER PRICES
While the median sale price for homes in the Jackson Hole area rose 86
percent in the first quarter compared to the year before, the number of
those real estate sales dropped 25 percent, the Jackson Hole News &
Guide reported. The Jackson Hole area now has 805 real estate agents,
nearly double the number of properties for sale. A local broker
estimates that 30 to 40 percent of the agents are “hobbyists,”
(divorcees, retirees) rather than fully committed Realtors.
TELLURIDE: MONDRIAN IS MAMMOTH, NEIGHBORS SAY
An 85-foot-tall hotel proposed in Mountain Village would be home to 189
rooms, and could infuse the often vacant area with $30 million in
annual retail business, the Telluride Daily Planet reported. But,
neighbors in the Mountain Village area say the Mondrian would
overshadow and confine existing buildings. The extra 14 feet in height
would exceed current zoning laws, but proponents argue that the
benefits of the project outweigh those concerns.
CRESTED BUTTE: TOWN OFFICIALS PLAYING WITH FRACTIONAL REGULATIONS
Officials are backing off of an idea in which they initially asked
developers to keep fractional ownership units available for rent to the
public during high season, the Crested Butte News reported. Instead,
they are toying with lessening restrictions for the timeshare units
that are part of a proposed 40,000-square-foot hotel with 21 luxury
units near the town’s center. Known as the Sixth Street Station, the
development is requring officials to reexamine Crested Butte’s zoning
regulations.
