Celebrating 40 years of one of our town’s proudest accomplishments, the Buddy Program enjoyed its annual Buddy Bash at the St. Regis Hotel last Friday night. Founding father, Gregg Anderson, chaplain of the Aspen Chapel, and longtime supporter, Lenny “Boogie” Weinglass, were in attendance as they were honored for their commitment to the children of the Roaring Fork Valley.
Live auction items such as a week in Napa Valley’s esteemed Auberge resorts, the Galapagos Islands, or a Tuscany villa for 12 fetched sums that funded 80 percent of the program’s annual total costs.

The theme of the evening was “La Dolce Vita,” and everyone was encouraged to reflect the mood in their fashion choices based on the Italian glamour of the 60’s and 70’s, a la Sophia Loren.
Party attendees opted for stark black and white outfits which is, in fashion terms, a ‘white hot’ trend right now with evidence of tight sheaths, geometric patterns along with retro up-do’s and buns for hair.
The bargain of the night was a $30,000 Fendi mink and broadtail coat, two tickets to the exclusive Fendi runway show in Milan, Italy in September and a $20,000 shopping spree at a Fendi boutique — all sold for a mere $17,500. Two women bid on it together for the ultimate girls’ trip — I just hope the time share arrangement of the coat doesn’t affect their friendship!
