A new ground transportation option will begin offering bus service between Aspen and regional airports next winter.
Gray Line, a tour bus and sightseeing company, is billing the service as a “luxury” option, with concierge service at the airport and buses equipped with GPS tracking and on-board entertainment. The service will connect Aspen with Denver International Airport and Eagle County Regional Airport. It will be direct and will not stop at points in between.
Heather Rousseau/Aspen Daily NewsChuck Murphy, owner of the Gray Line bus company, talks about a new direct bus service from Denver International Airport to Aspen while local officials and press were invited to check it out in downtown Aspen on Wednesday.
Officially starting on Nov. 14, Gray Line plans to operate six departures each day during peak season, according to a press release. Summer and off-season schedules will depend on demand.
Proposed rates for the service, according to a press release, are $105 from DIA and $60 from Eagle County Airport. Fares are one way and do not include fuel or other surcharges.
For an additional $15, a smaller van will take travelers directly to their hotels.
The new service will compete with Colorado Mountain Express, which uses vans to transport people between the airport and ski resorts. The CME Web site quoted a $126 price, including all surcharges, for a January one-way trip. However, CME shuttles often stop at other ski destinations in between Aspen and Denver.
