Herbert Scott Young, a resident of Tamarac, Fla., and a longtime Aspen visitor, passed away on Sept. 20, 2008. He was 90 years old.
Born in Boston, Mass., Herbert moved his family to Miami Beach, Fla., in the 1940s. An economics professor at the University of Miami, he took up the sport of skiing at the age of 61. He and his wife, Selma, spent their winter vacations at the Mountain Chalet in Aspen for more than 20 years. He skied well into his mid-80s.
Herbert is survived by his wife; his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Andrea Young, who have been residents of Aspen for more than 20 years; and his son Scott, a former Aspen resident now residing in Grand Junction, Colo.
