Give Some Get Some tomorrow
Local youth nonprofit Spring Board is holding its seventh annual benefit, Give Some Get Some, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Crystal Palace Grille in Aspen. This year’s event features live music by local band Jes Grew and the rolling out a new Spring Board membership program.
Give Some Get Some includes food (including the Crystal Palace Grille’s Kobe beef sliders), drinks provided by Pearl Vodka and Aspen Brewing Co., and a silent auction.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Attendees are encouraged to become a Spring Board member for an additional $10 making tickets $40 in advance or $45 at the door. Membership includes free admission to the group’s spring event, Spring Fling, exclusive early invites to all events and invites to grantee volunteer opportunities.
“Members will essentially become an extension of Spring Board by supporting our mission,” said Spring Board Chair Dylan Hoffman.
The Spring Board Donor Advised Fund, a nonprofit operating under the Aspen Community Foundation, consists of 16 members under the age of 35 who granted $23,000 to nine nonprofits this year focusing on youth programs.
Tickets can be bought through any Spring Board member or through member Lindsay Harding at 603-548-4728. Advance tickets are also being sold at the Aspen Brewing Co. tonight from 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Aspen Parks and Rec going online
The Aspen Parks and Recreation Department is going green by offering online registration.
The benefits of creating an online account include the ability to register for classes for yourself and other family members, view the number of available spaces, reserve facilities, renew your membership, view your calendar, update your account, print receipts, see “at a glance” where you need to be and when, and much more without ever having to leave home.
The new system will also eventually provide members with self check in at the recreation facilities.
To introduce customers to the new process, the department is holding a contest with prizes like ski clinics, private ski lessons, parks and recreation gift certificates and a variety of $100 and $50 gift certificates. To enter the contest all customers have to do is create an online family account by Oct. 31; winners will be announced Nov. 15.
Visit www.aspenrecreation.com with a valid e-mail address to register online and enter the contest; then pick up your new “Fun Pass” at the Aspen Recreation Center or Red Brick Recreation Center. (The new pass will replace all former passes beginning Nov. 1.) For more information, call 544-4100 or 920-5140.
