An expert in writing the legal thriller, an award-winning poet and a couple of New York Times No. 1 bestselling authors are just some of the authors coming to town as part of the Aspen Writers’ Foundation’s Winter Words series.
The lineup includes: Augusten Burroughs, Jeffrey Eugenides, Andrew Sean Greer, Sara Gruen, Jane Hirshfield and Scott Turow.
As the author of “Presumed Innocent,” “The Laws of Our Fathers,” and “Personal Injuries,” Scott Turow has nailed the legal thriller. He has sold more than 25 million copies world-wide, and is the recipient of numerous literary awards. Turow will appear on Jan. 29.
On Feb. 5, is Jane Hirshfield, the pen behind six collections of poetry that address the rawest issues of human existence.
On March 5, Sara Gruen will discuss “Water for Elephants,” a wild tale that’s about much more than the circus it follows, and earned its place as a New York Times No. 1 bestseller.
Jeffrey Eugenides, who wrote “The Virgin Suicides” and “Middlesex,” comes to Aspen on March 18. The latter earned him the Pulitzer Prize in 2003.
The author of “The Confessions of Max Tivoli” joins Winter Words on March 26. Andrew Sean Greer is also the author of “How It Was For Me” and “The Path of Minor Planets,” as well as a contributor to several national publications including The New Yorker and Esquire.
And, Augusten Burroughs appears on April 2. His autobiography, “Running with Scissors,” spent four years on The New York Times bestseller list, with eight months at No. 1.
All events start at 5:30 p.m. and include a book reading, talk and question-and-answer session. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students or educators.
