The Aspen School Board of Education saw a slight change in its chain of command at its Nov. 17 meeting.
Former board president Elizabeth Parker swapped roles with former vice-president Charla Belinski. Parker’s one-year term as president expired and the board collectively felt Belinski was the appropriate replacement.
According to Belinski, her new role as president comes with additional responsibilities and more time commitments but is not a major change from her former position.
“In essence, it’s not a huge change for the dynamic of the board,” said Belinski, who is in her fourth and final year on the board. “It’s more of leading the meetings and working as a liaison between the superintendent and the board.”
Belinski takes the board’s helm shortly after local voters approved referendums to increase funding for transportation, employee housing and to upgrade the school’s technology department.
